Manipur Crises - Probable Solutions
Voices of Manipur's Creative Community enacted a play titled Agnisuta (Draupadi) in Manipur in 2000. Savitri Devi played the title role. Here Draupadi is being crushed by Duryodhana, Dussasana, and Sakuni.
In this photo, Draupadi is being protected by the progressive people. But not by the "Lord" Krishna.
Manipur crisis is not a war of ethnic races. Manipur conflicts are caused by the Union and State rulers. Manipur had been rich in forests, timber trees, medicinal plants, spices, water power for hydro projects and fishing, clay, sandstone, and coal. The Geological Survey of India detected 2 crore metric tons of limestone, oil, petroleum, and diamonds. To rob them the Multinational Corporations must enter the mining places. To facilitate this Modi promised Scheduled Tribe status to Hindu Meiteis, to which they are not entitled as per the Constitution of India. Christian ST Kukis protested this. Hence the crisis. Manipur people and women are tormented by the Union and State governments by the Army through the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, and police. Manipur cultural plays have no comedy. The play 'Agnisuta' was played in the Manipur context in 2000. In the title role of Draupadi, Savitri Devi revealed her body naked. Now this scene is reflected in real life. Draupadi had been wrongly blamed by society for the bloody Kurukshetra war. In fact, Draupadi did not cause the war. Duryodhana initiated the insulation of Draupadi. Sakuni and surprisingly Karna provoked Duryodhana. Dussasana blindly obeyed the orders of Duryodhana. Drutarashtra who was visually challenged became mentally blind under the guise of love and affection on son Duryodhana. He neglected Rajadharma as Modi the Chief Minister of Gujarat did as alleged by late Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India. Kuru Sreshta Bhishma, Kuru Guru Dronacharya, and other knights kept quiet with lame excuses. "Lord" Krishna did not play his role as mediator. By praising Pandavas and belittling Kauravas he did not pave the way for compromise but promoted war. These people caused the war.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah do not want to and cannot solve this Manipur problem. Shrimati Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, has constitutional powers and duties to solve this crisis. But she cannot bypass Modi. The creative community, the progressives, the left, the students, the civil society, the trade unions, and the judiciary should protect Manipur. But painfully all these institutions became either passive or inactive and ultimately voiceless.
