PRESS FREEDOM IN CHINA
All China Journalists Association Press Club Hall in Beijing, China. Symbol of Press Freedom in China.
The Constitution of China guarantees freedom of speech and the press. But, the Government restricts and regulates the freedoms by special laws. Media in China is controlled and censored by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Central Propaganda Department of the CCP oversees the nation's media. Social Media is tightly censored. All these avoid only anti-government activities and false propaganda as reported by the Chinese government. The Indian Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party Government purchased Pegasus (vigilance) software from Israel and installed in the cell phones and computers of the opposition leaders and social activists without their knowledge. The Modi Government arrested the journalists and the opposition political party leaders. The Digital Personal Data Protection Rules 2025 introduced under the DPDP Act 2023 accord abnormal freedom and encourage irregular activities by the yesmen of the rulers. This increases corruption practices and kills the democracy and constitution.
