SHIKUMEN BUILDING, SHANGHAI, CHINA

The Shikumen Building with modern structures and multistoried buildings behind in Shanghai, China. Visited on 21 February 2025.

The Shikumen Building, in the old town of Shanghai, was constructed in the mid-1800s. It is a combination of Chinese and Western architectural styles. This building represents modern Shanghai's history and culture. In the 1900s, it was a residential complex for Shanghai citizens. With the development of the city, the glorious Shikumen gradually faded from the historical stage. The Shikumen was rebuilt in 1997 by the developer Xin Tian Di of Shanghai.
