The Temple of Heaven in the southeast of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. A place to hold a memorial ceremony for the Winter Solstice Festival.
The Temple of Heaven is a World Heritage Site. It is the largest structure for sacrifice to heaven.
The Temple of Heaven in Beijing was built in 1420. Here the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped the God of Heaven. Offered sacrifices, Prayed for bumper harvests, and favorable rain. Most of these structures were constructed in the Qing dynasty as designed by Ming emperor Jiajing. The compound wall is semicircle in the north and square in the south. Surrounded by double annular walls the inner and the outer parts of the temple cover 683 acres. It includes the Hall of Prayer for good harvests, the Circular Mound Altar, the residence for the emperors, the Danbi Bridge, the Long Corridor, the Seven Star Stones, the Ninedragon Cypress, the Divine Music Hall for the musicians and dancers, etc.
