YANGTZE RIVER, CHINA

China's Yangtze River through the Three Gorges (Mountains)

In small caves of mountains, in ancient times, corpses were placed believing that the dead kept in high places would quickly reach heaven as it is nearer to it.

The Three Gorges (mountain ranges) Dam on the Yangtze River in China is named after the three gorges it spans: Qutang Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, and Xiling Gorge. These gorges, located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze, are known for their dramatic scenery and historical significance. The dam itself is situated near the city of Yichang in Hubei Province, primarily in the Xiling Gorge area.
