ALFRED EINSTEIN ON PACIFISM
Albert Einstein, on 29th July 1923, spoke on Pacifism in Berlin. "Peace and Non-violence are the most ethical and effective ways to address disputes and disagreements".
German Jewish scientist Albert Einstein advocated pacifism, believed the peace, disarmament, and viewed war as destructive. Hitler changed his view. Einstein opposed Nazism, desired civil liberty, tolerance, and equality of all citizens. He supported defense against tyranny. With this view, in 1939 urged President Franklin D. Roosevelt, to develop atomic bomb before Germany. But he regretted the bomb’s use and campaigned against it.
Einstein’s pacifism was rational, urging global cooperation and disarmament for peace. He co-founded the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists to avoid nuclear weapons and to support the UN for international peace. He and Betrand Russell wrote the 1955 Russell-Einstein Manifesto, warning of nuclear weapons and calling for humanity.
