The Swedish History Museum in Stockholm is one of Sweden’s largest museums, showcasing nation’s history from the Mesolithic period (10,000 BCE). Founded in 1866, the museum operates under the National Historical Museums, tasked with preserving Sweden’s cultural heritage. The museum houses 1 crore artifacts, including 52 kilos of gold and 200 kilos of silver, medieval art, and relics from the Battle of Gotland (1361), massacre of Gotland farmers by Danish soldiers. One of the world’s largest Viking Exhibitions, features 2,500 artifacts like weapons, jewelry, a reconstructed Viking ship, Viking life, cosmology, and trade. Gold Room showcases Viking pendants, medieval reliquaries, and gold collars. Activities and objects from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages are exhibited.
