INDIVIDUALS HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO OPPOSE THE GOVERNMENT
Individuals have to oppose the Governments, instead of bearing its injustice without protest. Henry David Thoreau, an American naturalist and pacifist, was jailed on 14 August 1846 for refusing to pay taxes.
Henry David Thoreau was an American naturalist, pacifist, philosopher, writer, and activist in the transcendentalist (goodness of people and nature) movement with major figures like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Walt Whitman, and Margaret Fuller. Thoreau is best known for his book 'Walden', written while living in a cabin he built near Walden Pond in Massachusetts. It is on the nature and simple life in it. He also wrote poetry, books, articles, essays, and journals. The essay 'Civil Disobedience' is famous. In this, he argues that the individual has the responsibility to oppose the government rather than acquiesce to injustice. Born on 12.7.1817 in Concord, Massachusetts, he died on 6.5.1862, aged 44, from TB.
