PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN

Pied Piper of Hamelin driving the children out, a revenge of the unfulfilled promise. Shouldn't we take a lesson from this?

The Pied Piper is a German folktale of Hamelin town. A historical event of 1284. Hamelin was plagued by rats. A piper, dressed in pied (colorful) clothes, offers to rid the town of rats for a fee. He plays a magical tune on his pipe, luring the rats into the Weser River, where they drown. Townspeople refuse to pay him. The piper retaliates by playing another tune, leading 130 of the town’s children into a cave, never seen again. The tale is a paradoxical caution to the rulers and a reminder of revenge by people about fake political promises.
