THE CONTROL COUNCIL THE ALLIED FORCES

The Allied Control Council of America, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France enacted Law No. 1 on 20th September 1945, repealing Nazi Laws to denazify all walks of German Society.

Law 1, made by the Allied Control Council (ACC) on 20.9.1945, was to denazify law, society, and institutions, to restore laws for democracy, and to prosecute war criminals. ACC, of the US, the UK, the Soviet Union, and France, was the supreme governing body for Germany after its surrender. It repealed 25 Nazi laws, decrees, and ordinances that led to racial discrimination, tyranny, and suppression of civil liberties. They are: The Enabling Act, allowing Hitler to enact laws without the Reichstag. Law banning political parties (except the Nazi Party), and the formation of new parties. The Nuremberg Laws, stripping Jews of citizenship, and prohibiting interracial marriages. The Law criminalizing criticism of the State and the Nazi party. Police Ordinance to identify and persecute Jews. Reich Flag Law and anti-Jewish decrees. Law 1 led to law 2  to dissolve Nazi organizations, law 5 to handle external German property, and law 10 to address humanitarian issues.
