The museum houses 6.5 lakh objects, including coins, medals, banknotes, and ethnographic money, some dating back to the 1570s when King John III collected, to support Sweden’s claim to the three crowns. Unique Artifacts: A Nobel Medal awarded to Swedish chemist Svante Arrhenius in 1903. The Övide Treasure, a Viking Age silver hoard. The museum is one of Sweden’s oldest. The museum, formerly known as the Royal Coin Cabinet, was renamed in 1996.
