VIETNAMESE INDEPENDENCE DAY

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnamese Revolutionary, declaring Vietnamese Independence on 2nd September 1945. Ho was the founder and the first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Second September is Vietnam's National Day and Ho's 56th Death Anniversary.

On 2.9.1945, Ho Chi Minh declared the Independence of Vietnam in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square. Established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The Declaration Document, inspired by the US Declaration of Independence and the French Declaration of the Rights of Man, asserted Vietnam’s sovereignty and right to self-determination. It highlighted French colonialism, exploitation, oppression, and economic hardship, and Japanese aggression in World War II. Quoted principles of liberty and equality. It denounced French claims to Vietnam and affirmed that the Vietnamese people seized independence through their own efforts. It positioned Ho Chi Minh and Viet Minh (Communist led league for the independence of Vietnam) as leaders of the nationalist movement.
